Last week before Rainier!

The departure time is close.  The training continues to wind down...or so I thought.   Sunday was a clinic hike in Evergreen, the Three Sisters and Evergreen Mt.  I carried 40 lbs 7 miles and about 1200 elevation gain.  This would be my last pack carry before we leave.

I hit the gym hard for the last time on Tuesday.  I rested Monday, Wednesday, Thursday.  Though a lot of effort was put into packing up and finalizing food and gear.

My paternal side of the family flew in for my aunt and uncle's 50th wedding celebration.  It was great to see my cousins, aunts and uncles! Of course they wanted some mountain experience.  Off to Red Rocks we went and did a 2.5 mile hike.  I just carried a camelback with 2L of water.  After, we went to the amphitheater.  We had to run down and up the world famous stairs.  I felt pumped, so I ended up zig zagging and running each row from top to bottom.  It took 20:05 minutes.  I figured it was about 2.5 miles.  Even though it was 9:30 am it was flipping hot!  It exhausted me.  Probably not a smart thing to do on a 'rest' day.
Any who, I spent the afternoon packing before heading to my sisters for a family 4 TH of July and sending off party.  Thanks Carrie an Derk for hosting and a poking up a awesome food for my last meal (ha)!

I didn't get the best sleep the night before our departure.  I guess I will have to make it up on the plane.  I will continue to post short segments in Seattle and on the mountain.  The weather forecast looks very promising with sun and warm temps.  Keep your fingers crossed for us!  Onward to the mountain...
