Twelve weeks from today we will be hopefully stepping off of Mt Rainier with a successful story. Training slowly got back on track for me after the respiratory virus I contracted two weeks ago. I moved up to 44-47 lbs of pack weight this week. Boy does it feel heavy! I did a dry run and packed all the gear I had planned to take to Rainier. To my open mouth surprise, my pack weighed 75 lbs!!! This is no good. I had to figure out a way to lower the weight. After many texts to my climbing mates, we made some changes to what we would take and instructed each other to pack all the personal necessities and leave out the shared gear. This way we can get an idea who's gear weighs more and distribute the group gear fairly. My pack came in at 50 lbs with food and water. Still a lot heavier than I want. I will say, my climbing rope is not coming with me. It weighs 10 lbs alone. We will take Billy's rope which weighs 5 lbs. We are planning an overnight on St. Mary's Glacier/James Peak next weekend for team training. We will get our gear dialed in and distributed among us.
Today Billy and I skinned and skied Berthoud Pass for training. Then went to Mary Jane for a couple of runs.

I will have more to report after our team outing on St. Mary's Glacier next week. Until then...
