The time until Mt. Rainier has wound down. This past week was busy at the clinic and going through the final preparations for my departure. Luckily, everything has gone as planned. I got two good workouts in and only played in one of my hockey games Friday night (yeah I slacked a little, so there!). My final gear check at home took up most of the living room.
Jeff and I took off from DIA this morning with a little delay from Southwest airlines and made up time in the air. We had a quick stop in Salt Lake City, then made our way to Seattle. We had our first glimpse of the Rainier on our descent.
On our arrival to Seattle we had a time crunch to get to Alpine Ascents office by 2 pm. We took the light rail to downtown, jumped on the monorail and walked through the Seattle-center and space needle arriving just before 2 at the office.
We met our fellow team- Will and Nathan from Virginia, Chris and Mike from Kentucky, Andre and Shannon form Seattle and two of our guides Dylan and Adam.
The gear check and logistic debriefing lasted just before 5pm. Thereafter Jeff and I walked around the space needle and water front. We had an absolute beautiful day of sun and 70's ( atypical for Seattle right?). We ate a delicious pizza and salad for dinner and returned to our hotel for some stretching and rest. Good night for now and hope to report from the mountain tomorrow. Pray for good weather! It has been difficult to post pictures from my iPhone onto this blog. I'm working on it. For now I'll post pics on Facebook.
